Murray River Council’s community strategic plan consultation results now available

By Anna McGuinness

THE Murray River Council community is being invited to view results from consultation on the new community strategic plan.

In April, the council ran a virtual town hall meeting through a Zoom session with residents and later ran interactive activities through the Your Say Murray River website.

Murray River Council's Mayor Chris Bilkey thanked the community for its positive engagement in the process.

“Whilst strategic planning is a legislative requirement for all NSW councils, the best results are delivered off the back of feedback and input from the community,” he said.

“We had some fantastic ideas and comments provided during our consultation period, so I would encourage the community to jump online and take a look at what we heard.”

The community strategic plan is a 10-year plan that sets the council’s strategic objectives, goals, priorities and direction and identifies the community's vision and aspirations for the future.

“A lot of people think consultation activities don’t end up anywhere, but the reality is every community infrastructure project or new service that has recently been delivered, is the result of communities telling us that these things are needed,” Cr Bilkey said.

“We hope that by providing the consultation results the community can get a big-picture view of the process and where we are at with it.”
