With 26 supervised crossings across the municipality, council is seeking friendly, reliable people to help students and pedestrians get to and from school safely.
The casual, paid roles are available during school terms, with morning shifts running from 8am to 9.30am and afternoon shifts from 2.30pm to 4pm.
No experience is necessary. Council will provide full training, a uniform and support throughout the onboarding process. Applicants must undergo a working with children check and police check as part of the recruitment process.
The job offers flexibility and routine, making it ideal for retirees, parents, carers, students, and anyone looking to add meaningful work to their week.
Mayor Shane Sali said the role offered more than just a wage.
“School crossing supervisors play an essential role in keeping our community safe,” Cr Sali said.
“These positions are a great opportunity for locals to take on meaningful, flexible work that supports our children and families.”
An information session will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from 1pm to 2pm at the Welsford St council office for anyone wanting to learn more before applying.
The session will walk people through the role, explain how to apply, and give them a chance to ask questions directly to council’s community wellbeing team.
Applications are open until midnight, Friday, June 13, via council’s recruitment portal.
