The fundraising effort significantly exceeded the original target of $15,000.
The event, part of a series of 28 Memory Walk and Jog events across Australia in 2025, brought together community members to support those affected by dementia, while promoting brain health through physical activity.
Dementia Australia chief executive Tanya Buchanan praised the local community’s involvement.
“There was an outstanding show of support from the Shepparton community, who turned out in such large numbers for the first time in support of people impacted by dementia,” she said.
“It was great to see the community supporting Dementia Australia by raising funds and awareness of dementia as well as moving for their brain health, which research shows can help reduce our risk of dementia.”
Professor Buchanan also acknowledged the vital role of volunteers.
“It is only through the hard work of our wonderful volunteers that the success of this event is possible,” she said.
Those who missed the event can still participate by organising their own MyWay event at a time and location of their choice.
