In collaboration with Greyhound Racing Victoria, this event series has been ongoing for 22 years, with support increasing each year.
This year, over 100 people from disability community groups from around the region attended the event in Shepparton, which aids in providing supplementary funds for many participating disability groups in the region.
Greyhound Racing Victoria’s Regional Promotions Lead Brad Williams said the event series offered the disability community a fun day out and gives them a chance to experience the thrills of greyhound racing while enabling us to help contribute to these deserving organisations.
“The Great Chase has been working with the disability community since 2003 and the initiative has seen Greyhound Racing Victoria, and clubs donate over $800,000 to Victoria’s disability sector over those 22 years,” he said.
“The community days are a special part of my job, and it’s a great chance for our local greyhound racing clubs, like the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club, to invite these groups along and provide a complimentary lunch plus entertainment for the regions' disability sector” Mr Williams said.
As well as the recent Shepparton event, Great Chase events at Sandown, Sale, Warragul, Bendigo, Ballarat, Warrnambool, and The Meadows will see each host their own community days throughout September and October.
The events continue to support Victoria’s disability communities and provide some assistance towards programs for those organisations.
