There were several preliminary breath testing sites conducted throughout the region, along with increased units conducting enforcement duties.
Police in the Moira Shire marked a decrease in traffic coming into the area due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Cobram Highway Patrol Sergeant Bill Dockrey was pleased with driver behaviour in the region.
“We did catch three drug drivers and one drink driver who were all locals as a result of random intercepts,” Sgt Dockrey said.
“We tested 500 people over the weekend and issued 23 speed infringements, which is reasonably low in comparison to other years.
“We also checked 3000 vehicle registration to see if people were breaking COVID-19 regulations but we didn't issue any infringement notices.”
Cobram Highway Patrol covered most of main roads but also spent time in nearby towns.
Sgt Dockrey said Operation Regal was a positive state-wide operation.
“It's good to co-ordinate with police across the state so that drivers see a progressive approach as they travel,” he said.
He reminded drivers to remain vigilant on 100km/h zone roads.
“They still are our biggest risk,” he said.
