Benalla AFL star Tom Rockliff is set to feel the (ice) burn in this year’s Big Freeze 6.
The Port Adelaide star will join 17 other players - one from each team - who will plunge into the ice bath in support of Neale Daniher’s FightMND fundraiser.
Instead of the pre-match spectacular of past Big Freeze events, this year will be different with clubs filming their own submissions.
Speaking to portadelaidefc.com.au earlier this week, Rockliff said he jumped at the chance to be involved.
“It’s huge what Neale’s done, but there are so many people that suffer across Australia with the disease and there’s no real cure at the moment,” Rockliff said.
“Hopefully with the research that is being done and the donations that are being given and the awareness that Neale has created in the AFL community, sooner rather than later they can come up with something that can cure this disease.”
Rockliff said he had a few things in the works to earn a few laughs on the day - with participants usually dressing up in costume for the occasion.
The event will be held on the Queen’s Birthday holiday on Monday, June 8 - ahead of the AFL season restart on Thursday, June 11.
The event will be broadcast on Channel 7.
