Collingwood defender Billy Frampton is out for at least a month and utility Beau McCreery is also sidelined, as teenager Charlie West prepares for his AFL debut.
Vice-captain Brayden Maynard also has one more training session to complete before he returns in Saturday's home game against West Coast.
Frampton played out Saturday night's win over St Kilda, but scans have shown he has a calf muscle strain that will sideline him for four to five weeks.
The key defender had played every game since returning to the senior team in round five.
McCreery was subbed out of Saturday's game because of a hamstring injury and he is expected to miss three games.
Maynard has not played since late last month because of a plantar fascia tear and the Magpies said on Tuesday the defender was "progressing well".
Coach Craig McRae had been optimistic late last week Maynard would return against the Eagles.
Also on Tuesday, the Magpies confirmed the 19-year-old West would debut on Saturday after a run of solid VFL form.
The youngster kicked six goals in the VFL last weekend against Sandringham, including the match winner after the final siren.
Meanwhile, Tew Jiath is out for four to six weeks after a quad muscle injury in the VFL.
