Italian giants axe coach after seven months in post

Slumping Juventus have fired coach Igor Tudor following three straight losses and an eight-match winless run.

Juventus haven't won since September 13 and the announcement came a day after the team's latest loss, a 1-0 defeat to Lazio — their fourth straight match without scoring a goal.

That left Juventus eighth in Serie A, six points below joint leaders Napoli and Roma and three below fourth-place Inter Milan.

Juventus also have two points from three Champions League matches.

Juventus said on Monday that reserve team coach Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge of the team, including for Wednesday's home match against Udinese.

Tudor was appointed in March to replace the fired Thiago Motta and initially given a contract until the end of the season — including the Club World Cup in the United States.

In June the 47-year-old was asked to stay on further after guiding Juventus to fourth place and the final Champions League spot with five wins in nine games in Serie A.

Elsewhere Napoli's Kevin De Bruyne has a severe lesion to his thigh muscle and will be sidelined for several months.

The Belgium captain, who had scored four goals in eight Serie A matches this season, pulled up and clutched the back of his right thigh after converting a penalty to set Napoli on the way to a 3-1 win over Inter Milan on Saturday and had to be helped off the field by medical staff.
