ClubMulwala Outdoor Bowls

The heat has gone and some welcome rain has arrived, however all pennant matches were completed.

Pennant Result

Tuesday A2 was away to Benalla who proved far too strong for us.

B1 was at home to Benalla with some very competitive bowls played with our team in front when it mattered, one more game before the finals keep focused.

Saturday saw B2 away to Corowa Services, winning 2 out of 3 rinks and coming home with a strong win. This meant they have gone through the home and away season undefeated, now the focus has to be maintaining that form over the finals.

B5 was at home to Corowa Civic, once again good bowls played in great spirit.

A couple of stoppages for rain, finally winning two of three greens resulting in an overall win, this meant the home and away of the season was complete with only one loss.

Once again the focus has to be maintaining that form into the finals.

Club Event

At last some club events have been played:

Ladies 21 up semi-finals have been completed with Bev Norwood successful over Carmen Mangan and Nola Mongor successful over Pam Lefevre.

The final will be played on Thursday, February 14.

Men’s 21up semi-finals have also been completed with John Thurling successful over Albert (Dodi) Dodman and Graeme Arnold successful over Jim Murdoch.

The final will be played on Sunday, February 17.

Social

What a great finish to the weekend home and away rounds with most of our members present to enjoy some very special time together, lots of chat and laughter, great camaraderie, plenty of tall stories and some true ones.

Thanks to our chefs on the night Phil, Graham and Russell for a job well done.

Vale’ Val Flanagan

It is with great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Val who has been a long serving, hardworking and esteemed member of our club.

Our thoughts are with her family at this very sad time. Rest in Peace Val.

YMGCR Bowls

It’s now down to the finals in both Pennant sections. To those who made it through our very best wishes for the finals and to those who didn’t, big thanks from all at YMGCR for representing us so capably during the season.

It has been so, so hot and this has put a great deal of pressure on everyone.

Don’t forget that those still bowling will need your support, so watch the notice board for upcoming matches and venues.

End of season breakup

Our club will again be holding the season breakup at the home of Kurt and Marj Bleckwehl. The date is Sunday, March 17, and a green theme day is being planned.

Further details and attendees list are on the notice board, so please put this date in your diary.

The day is free, and you only need to bring a salad or sweet of your choice to share.
