As an ex-student of Shepparton High School, I would like to comment on the proposed new school on the site.
Admittedly, I am 87 years old, but I have a couple of ideas about the proposal.
1. Hawdon St is too narrow to handle all of the traffic now at ‘‘school times’’. Imagine the effect when traffic is backed up from the lights at Balaclava Rd.
2. If a super school is necessary, it would be better placed on a much larger block on the outskirts of the city.
3. Another possibility, which I don’t mean as a joke, is to have several P-12 schools in Shepparton and perhaps one in Mooroopna. These could be placed on the sites of current schools with the most land sizes or most modern buildings. This would give families choices of schools with certain special subjects and/or certain locations.
Please don’t laugh at my variations on a theme as I am sure there are many other ideas out there that may come to light after reading mine.
Imagine if you lived in Hawdon St if the new school is built and trying to turn into or drive out of your driveway?
