Golden Roo Dinner

By Corowa Free Press

AFL Premiership player Campbell Brown will be attending the annual Golden Roo Dinner this Wednesday at the Corowa Rutherglen club room.

The former Hawthorn and Gold Coast player will be at John Foord Oval from 5pm running a training clinic with junior players, before moving onto the dinner at 7pm where he’ll share stories and experiences from his illustrious career.

The All Australian played 149 games for Hawthorn where he was part of the 2008 premiership side, then moving onto the Gold Coast Suns where his career ended abruptly in 2014.

Campbell was well known for his hard-nosed play on the field and was acutely skilled at getting under the skin of his opponent.

His life after football has been much similar, where he has applied his ‘tell it how it is’ mentality to his footy commentary.

Roos President Graham Hosier is delighted to have Brown on board for the dinner and is looking forward to what promises to be an entertaining night for those attending.

“The dinner has been running for 39 years and we’re grateful that prominent footballers are always willing to participate at the club’s marquee event of the year,” he said.

“The night allows us the opportunity to say thanks to our members and sponsors who have helped keep the tradition alive.”

The Golden Roo Dinner is at 7pm Wednesday 17 July at the clubrooms.

Golden Roos will be issued a ticket while guests can enjoy the event for $120.

Contact Graham Hosier or Rowena Black or shop online at the club’s website.

Tickets are out now for the Kanga Cash Draw and available from players or board members.

To be held at the Clubrooms from 12 noon to 4pm on Sunday 21 July, $50 entry gives you the chance to share in $7,000 in prize money.

Finger food and drinks are included in the price.

Marc Almond walked away from the club $400 better off after being named the lucky winner of the Golden Roo draw that is held after each home game.

Golden Roos need to be in attendance to win the prize which jackpots by $200 each home game until won.

The Roos go to battle against Myrtleford this weekend at John Foord Oval. Get down to the game to support both the footballers and netballers.
