Tatura to get new temporary mayor

Comedian, storyteller and multi award-winning stand-up Damian Callinan will be donning the mayoral robes in his new show, Mayor for a Day, to be held in Tatura on Tuesday, October 11.

Mr Callinan will explore and analyse what makes Tatura and its local community unique in a presentation filled with humour and heartfelt comedy.

Mr Callinan will give Tatura residents the opportunity to celebrate themselves in all their idiosyncratic glory. Organisers reassure potential attendees that the humour presented by Mr Callinan lacks cynicism and doesn’t descend to mockery.

The show will also star local talents in a combination of filmed and live segments.

Mayor for a Day will showcase Mr Callinan’s ability to identify with local communities and make them believe he is one of them.

Mr Callinan is also offering a unique opportunity for Tatura residents to help shape the show via a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SC23MZC

The show is part of Riverlinks’ 2022 In Your Town Series and will be held at the Tatura Victory Hall at 7.30pm.

Mr Callinan is a three-time Barry Award nominee who has completed 12 solo tours, as well as starring in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and taking part in multiple Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshows. He’s best known to TV audiences for his appearances on Skithouse, Before the Game, Spicks and Specks and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.
