Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society president Jason Ronald has reflected fondly on his meetings with Queen Elizabeth II.
Mr Ronald recalls the Queen as charming, easy to talk to and invested in Australian matters, especially agricultural societies.
Mr Ronald first met Her Majesty in 1981 at a reception at the National Gallery of Victoria with then Victorian Premier Lindsay Thompson.
They met again in Sydney in 2006 at a reception for the Commonwealth Games at Admiralty House where Mr Ronald, as Royal Over-Seas League Australia (ROSL) chairman, was a guest of then Prime Minister John Howard.
In 2010, he attended the centenary reception for the ROSL at St James’ Palace in London to present the Australian delegation to the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19, and Australia will observe a public holiday on Thursday, September 22, to commemorate her life.
