Bombers hard to score against

The Lions achieved the same feat, scoring from 14 of its 28 entries (50 per cent), when the teams met in round six and the Bombers walked away with a 55-point win.

Third-ranked Mansfield is the other team to have bettered the one in two scoring ratio (51 per cent), hitting the scoreboard on 24 occasions from 47 entries.

Of Kyabram’s remaining 11 games, only top-of-the-ladder Echuca has managed more than 50 forward-50 entries. In round three the Murray Bombers had 54 inside-50 entries against Kyabram, but only managed to score at 43 per cent (kicking 10.13).

Shepparton Swans and Euroa have also registered 47 inside-50 totals against Kyabram, but scored at just 34 and 45 per cent respectively.

Kyabram has surrendered an average of just 56 points this season, 94 point totals from Mansfield and Seymour the highest totals scored against it this season.

In six matches this season the Bombers have restricted their opposition scoring shots to less than 40 per cent — from forward 50 entries.

Rochester went inside the 50 metre arc on 48 occasions in its three-point win against the dogged Bombers in round 12, but scored at only 48 per cent.

Echuca and Euroa are the only teams to average more than 50 inside-50 entries this season, with the Kyabram team third (48.8).

Shepparton, Benalla and Tatura are the only GVL teams to average less than 40 entries inside-50.

In its 14 matches this season the Bombers have allowed its opposition an average of only 41 forward-50 entries.

At the opposite end the Bombers have converted scores from 304 of its 634 inside-50 entries, an average of 47.9 per cent.

In half of its matches (seven) this season Kyabram has entered its scoring zone on more than 50 occasions.

Echuca, from 736 forward 50 entries, has scored on 367 occasions — a return of 49.86 per cent.

Jack Sheldon, Jason Morhan and Lachlan Smith are all ranked in the league’s top 15 rebounding players, Kyabram the only team with three representatives in the GVL Data statistical category.

Shepparton’s Edward Linton has almost 30 more rebounding 50 efforts to his name than any other player, while Sheldon (12th with 56), Morgan (13th, 52) and Smith (15th, 51) also feature prominently.

Smith is the league’s leading intercept marker, with 84 (32 more than second best, Mansfield’s Jack Hutchins), and Morgan is ranked fifth with 35.

Kyabram’s Nic Denahy has the second highest inside-50 count in the competition, averaging 5.2 a game. Kaine Herbert is the only other player to come close, with a 4.1 average.

Benalla’s Christopher Walsh leads the league with an average of 6.2 from 12 games.
