Officeworks Shepparton customers have played a part in raising nearly $60,000 for a charity supporting young people who take on a carer’s role for others in their life.
In June, customers were encouraged to round up the cost of their purchase or make a donation at the register to raise money for The Young Carer Project, an initiative of Little Dreamers.
“We’re thrilled that we’ve raised these funds to support the important work of Little Dreamers in supporting young carers providing unpaid care for a family member,” Officeworks Shepparton store business manager Paul Trewren said.
“Thank you to all of our customers who donated to this year’s Make A Difference Appeal and supported our local community.”
The Shepparton store was one of 13 to contribute funds to Little Dreamers, for a total of $59,206.
“The Young Carer Project works to empower whole school communities to engineer a kind, safe and supportive educational environment where Young Carers can thrive,” Little Dreamers partnerships and funding co-ordinator Taylar Registro said.
“With two to three young carers in every classroom across Australia, TYCP aims to ensure all young carers enjoy equal access to education.”
The fundraising was part of Officeworks’ Make A Difference Appeal, with $1 million raised in total for 14 community organisations nationwide, supporting children’s health and education.
