An unsuspecting brick warehouse, complete with roller door entrance and rustic charm is set to become Shepparton’s newest spot for after work drinks or friendly catch-ups.

In an old storage space on Edward St, Shepparton Brewery will open its doors in the near future after months of anticipation from locals, eagerly awaiting a sip of locally-produced beverages.
The previous owners of Teller Collective and Fryers Street Food Store, Daina Winch and Matt Milsome, are looking forward to stepping back into Shepparton’s hospitality scene with their newest venture.
After witnessing the recent success of craft breweries across regional Victoria, the pair decided it was time to take Mr Milsome’s home brewing skills to the next level.
‘‘We decided Shepparton was ready for it and there was a real market here for it,’’ Ms Winch said.
The pair started hunting for the perfect Shepparton space in July and by October, had found Shepparton Brewery’s home.
‘‘It was still close to town but off the main street,’’ Ms Winch said.
‘‘We wanted a warehouse, (a) rustic feel, which was still a little bit hidden.’’
With exposed brick walls, wood features and industrial style lighting, the inside will be set to host 150 people at a range of standing bar tables and seated dining options.
With an emphasis on a casual experience and atmosphere, Shepparton Brewery will cater to families and feature enjoyable menu items such as woodfire pizzas, smoked meats and burgers amongst the range.
Head chef Karan Bisht said the menu would include produce from local suppliers, with a focus on sustainability and ‘a rustic cooking style’.
‘‘We’re still working on the menu, but we’ll be looking at what is seasonal to create food that we take pride in,’’ Mr Bisht said.
‘‘We’ll be structuring the menu to complement the beers but we’ll also be cooking with them.’’
Venue manager Jade Burley was ‘sleeplessly excited’, eagerly anticipating the opening of the brewery.
Involved in hospitality and the craft beer market for several years, Mr Burley said it was the perfect time to open the venue.
‘‘There has been a lot of interest around town and a great response from social media,’’ he said.
‘‘Shepp is ready to have their own brewery.’’
Mr Burley said the brewery would open with four beers on tap, firstly focusing on simple, easy-drinking brews, before introducing lagers in the near future.
‘‘We’ll be looking for feedback and changing them as we go,’’ he said.
‘‘The brewery will become a real community hub, where people can enjoy food and drinks all together,’’ he said.
Working on the final touches, the group is working hard in the hopes of opening the brewery next month.
