Ahead of the curve: The copper-clad front of the proposed hotel will make it a landmark building for the northern gateway to the city.

The 2273 sq m site in Shelby Crt, Shepparton, off Numurkah Rd, would accommodate construction of 60 hotel suites, 30 studio serviced apartments, 30 one-bed serviced apartments and four three-bed serviced apartments for a total of 124 suites/apartments.
The site is part of a larger landholding that had previously been earmarked for a stalled supermarket development.
The original proposal from Lascorp for the supermarket contained a pub on the Shelby Crt block.
Welcoming: A view of the main entrance.
The new application has been lodged on behalf of Ballarat Investments Group, with a striking copper-clad building designed by R Architecture.
Car parking for the hotel would be on the ground floor (52 spaces, including six disabled car parks) and 52 spots on the mezzanine level.
A drop-off zone under a curved canopy would provide space for hotel guests, staff and visitors to be dropped off by taxis and other vehicles.
There are also 15 90-degree parking spaces proposed on the north side of Shelby Crt.
Wine and dine: The hotel will also feature a restaurant/cafe and a function room.
The hotel would include a restaurant/cafe/lounge with capacity for 115 people, and a function room with capacity for 130 people.
The developers say the location of the site provides an opportunity to create interactive street frontages as well as a striking landmark building that forms part of the northern gateway to Shepparton.
