Promises have already been flowing from all sides, and one has already been addressed by the Victorian Government.
The committee has been calling for a public transport review for a number of years, which was finally confirmed earlier this month and will take place in early 2027.
The review is not an election promise from the Labor government, instead, the funding has been allocated and the review will go ahead regardless of the election result.
Outgoing chair Rowan Farren-Parnell said the committee was excited to see the review go ahead.
“We haven’t even got into the hot season and we’re already seeing parties come to the line,” Mr Farren-Parnell said.
The committee is also advocating for a second river crossing, identifying heavy traffic through the Mooroopna CBD as a safety risk and economic limiter.
The Coalition has promised $25 million for the design and initial steps towards the crossing.
One Nation candidate Phillip Bryant said he would advocate for the project, but also acknowledged his party’s policy of not making financial commitments before seeing the state’s finances.
The committee is also advocating for investment into a local secondary school and 24-hour policing.
Mr Farren-Parnell said that the committee had engaged with Labor’s Cayla Fin, community independent Lou Costa and the Nationals’ Shane Sali.
“It’s good to see multiple candidates come to the table,” Mr Farren-Parnell said.
“Mooroopna has felt under invested in compared to Shepparton.”
Invitations to meet have been extended to all candidates.
