The Greater Shepparton Basketball Association says it has formally requested increased oversight from Basketball Victoria to help stabilise the organisation.

In a letter to members on Saturday, September 19, the GSBA said it had requested BV’s support to “assist in stabilising the Association and strengthening its governance and operations”.
The move follows multiple reports shared with The News detailing concerns about governance and management of the GSBA.
The letter said the GSBA and BV are now working together on transition arrangements and an immediate plan to support the association, as well as its staff, members, clubs, volunteers and participants.
The Association said basketball activities and competitions would continue as normal.
“The priority throughout this process is to minimise disruption to participants and the broader basketball community,” the letter said.
GSBA operational manager Tony Long declined to comment.
