Detective hit with stalking, violence and sex offences

A Queensland police officer has been charged with a string of serious domestic violence offences including stalking and sexual assault, allegedly committed over a period of years.

Some of the offences were allegedly committed while the plain-clothes detective was on duty.

The 36-year-old detective senior constable was originally charged with one count of domestic violence-related stalking in March.

Following further investigations, on Monday the man was re-arrested and charged with a string of additional offences.

The new charges include two counts of stalking, two counts of common assault, one count of dangerous conduct with a weapon, one count of entering a dwelling to commit a domestic violence offence, one count of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault.

Additionally, the officer was charged with two counts of computer hacking and misuse, two counts of distribute prohibited recording and one count of distribute intimate images.

The man was a member of the state's Crime Command which conducts serious and organised crime investigations.

He has been suspended from the force and is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The matter continues to be investigated by Queensland Police's Ethical Standards Command under the oversight of the Crime and Corruption Commission.
