Twenty20 E-grade | Van Dorsser steals the show in decider

All eyes were glued on the E-grade Twenty20 decider between Mooroopna and Tatura to see whether the local cricket identity could notch up a memorable ton.

An LBW decision — that even Van Dorsser himself began to walk for — denied the Cats’ opener a yarn for the ages.

Although the magical triple-figure score escaped Van Dorsser, a medallion for his side’s dominant 89-run triumph replaced any disappointment he might have had for the missed opportunity.

Van Dorsser’s special knock consisted of four sixes and nine boundaries as he anchored Mooroopna’s 4-172 innings.

Teammate Jake Summers chipped in with 34, but the afternoon belonged to Van Dorsser.

Tatura struggled to get going in its run-chase and was restricted to 8-83 after its 20 overs.

It was only some late resistance from Adrian Cook (20 from 31 deliveries) and Anthony Howley (19 not out) which steered Tatura close to triple-figures after the duo put on 43 for the eighth wicket.

Brett Child (2-1) and Ashley Bettridge (2-7) were lethal with ball in hand for the Cats.

Skipper Peter Schnorrenberg even threw the ball Van Dorsser’s way, with the man in form snaring 1-7 from his two overs.
