For the first time since round two, 2024, Tatura’s senior women’s side gathered in a circle post-game to belt out the club theme song.
Or at least it tried to.
But despite the lack of lyrics, the smiles and cheers could not be wiped from the players in the visitor’s rooms at Princess Park, as the red, white and blue celebrated its first Goulburn Murray Women’s and Girls League win in over two years.

The Bulldogs controlled possession and territory throughout the match against senior women’s newcomers Shepparton Swans, but while Tatura wouldn’t necessarily care given its victorious result, the Swans were still alive early due to inaccurate goalkicking.
Shepp Swans were held scoreless in the opening term while Tatura piled on seven scoring shots, but only one found its way through the middle, opening up a 1.6 (12) to zero scoreline at quarter time.
The Swans matched the Bulldogs in the second term, turning the intensity around the contest up a notch as the likes of Irish Anderson and Adeline Antolis got busy, aiding the Swans’ transition into its forward arc, where it would score its opening goal of the match.
Tatura’s score improved to 2.9 (21) though, leading by 15 at the main break.
With a handy lead, the Bulldogs didn’t tone down the effort in a prime winning opportunity.
Hungrier than ever to feel victorious, the shots on goal sharpened up in the second half, kicking 4.4 across the third and fourth term while the Swans managed just one more major, resulting in a resounding 37-point win for Tatura, 6.13 (49) to 2.0 (12).
Rebecca Laino was deemed best on for the winning side, as Maddy Andronaco booted three of the Bulldogs’ goals.
Tatura face Nathalia on Friday night at home this week, while the Swans play fellow fresh faces in the league Cobram.
In round two’s other results, the Tigers defeated Rumbalara by 32 points to claim an inaugural senior women’s win, while Shepparton United put Moama to the sword with a 50-point victory.
