Northerners’ Josh Sidebottom was incorrectly announced as the winner of the B-grade medal, however Cricket Shepparton officials were quickly aware of the mistake and held off announcing the true winner on its social media until a statement was produced on Wednesday.
Instead, Euroa’s Sham Dadallage and Shepparton Youth Club United’s Steven Tate have claimed the Clyde Young Shield’s individual gong, with the league stating its “profuse” apologies for the error.
Dadallage and Tate both tallied 14 votes in the Family Young medal count, compared to Sidebottom whose correct total was rectified to seven.

“Cricket Shepparton would like to apologise profusely for mistakenly announcing the wrong award winner for the B-grade best-and-fairest,” the statement read.
“As soon as the award was presented, Cricket Shepparton was made aware of the error and moved swiftly to start the process to correct the wrongdoing.
“Cricket Shepparton had accidentally grabbed data from a previous season and human error has led entering the wrong data and awarding the wrong winner.
“Cricket Shepparton would like to thank Josh Sidebottom from the Northerners Cricket Club for being very understanding during this process and apologise for awarding him the medal.”
The league also ensured new procedures have been placed to prevent another error happening in future.
In the correctly adjudicated counts, Undera’s Travis Guppy won the Furze Family C-grade best-and-fairest, Pine Lodge’s Mark Wilson won the D-grade Steve Winnett medal and Waaia’s Grant Park claimed the E-grade Barry Ward medal.
The women’s best-and-fairest went to Nagambie’s Kayla Shepherd.
