Like the time at the quarter-final stage of the Women's Asian Cup in India in 2022 when she had an off day in front of goal and Australia were stunned by a late South Korea strike and dumped out of the tournament in a 1-0 loss.
"I think about (it) quite often," Kerr said.
Australia meet the Koreans in Sydney on Sunday night this time to see who will top Group A and be handed a more favourable path towards the final.
The loss in 2022, sealed by Kerr's long-time Chelsea teammate Ji Soyun, was one of the lowest points in the Tony Gustavsson era and led to widespread criticism of the coach.
"We hit the crossbar, we hit everything that day, and then Ji put one in the top corner in the last few minutes," Kerr said.
"Ji's such a great player you always have to watch her, and they have so many great players and I think Ji's one of those players that can really change the game in a second."
Teammate Alanna Kennedy sees that tournament as an "opportunity missed" after Australia had romped through the group stage by scoring 23 goals across three wins.
Ji - Korea's most prolific scorer with 74 international goals - was rested against the Philippines on Thursday but is expected to return to South Korea's starting line-up when they meet the Matildas at Stadium Australia.
Owing to their inferior goal difference Australia must win to top Group A, which will force Joe Montemurro's side to be proactive against a South Korean side who can advance in first place with just a draw.
Leftback Steph Catley is another survivor of the 2022 campaign and would relish the chance to banish the demons which haunt her, Kerr and the other mainstays of this team four years on.
"That was a big moment for us as a team, I think we learned a lot from that game in particular," Catley said.
"We were quite wasteful from memory and didn't finish our chances.
"Against a team like Korea they take advantage of theirs and then the game's over.
"We've definitely learned from that moment and have been holding onto it and we want to make sure we do everything we can to not feel that again."
