Despite the muggy weather and a looming storm, between 6000 and 7000 people passed through the gates across the two-day event.
Rochester A & P Association Inc. secretary Maxine Weigand said they were happy with the turnout and response from attendees.
“It's like the old saying, we build it, and we hope they'll come. And they did, they came,” she said.
“You never know what numbers are going to be like because the weather and all sorts of things come into play, but we were quite comfortable with the numbers that we had coming through.
“The feedback's been positive and kind of given us the impetus to do it again.”
The fun began on Friday, February 27, with gates opening at 5pm and plenty of activities and food trucks to feed attendees on offer.
Kevin Wilson’s working dog demonstrations were a highlight of the first night, with onlookers marvelling at the skill and teamwork between Mr Wilson and his dogs.
Free laser tag was also a major drawcard, allowing the show fun to be accessible to all patrons.
Ms Weigand said it was amazing to see how many kids attended on Friday night.
“On the oval on Friday night, I’ve never seen so many kids, it was quite amazing,” she said.
“The Natimuk Show (association)... were there Friday night, and they were blown away by the numbers that we had and, also, the number of kids.
“They said (we’ve) really got a good future for the show... (we’re) seeing another generation coming through.”
Patrons also enjoyed the show and shine, mechanical bull rides and the Palmer Agricon Beef Spectacular before the night closed with a bang as fireworks filled the night sky at 9pm.
On Saturday, February 28, the fun continued with a petting zoo, wildlife display and camel rides.
There was even more animal fun as the Horse Show, Poultry Competition and Dairy and Beef Cattle Show were held throughout the day.
Kevin Wilson and his working dogs also returned on Saturday, along with food trucks, show rides and more entertainment for the kids.
Overall, it was another successful show for the Rochester A & P Association Inc. and local community.
Ms Weigand said the association was grateful for the community’s continued support.
“We’d just like to really thank the community for continuing to support us,” she said.
“We could organise a whole bunch of stuff and if nobody comes there's no point. So that's why we really are appreciative of the community for supporting us.”
Ms Weigand also extended her thanks to the sponsors and her fellow association members for their generosity and hard work.
