In the Goulburn Valley Playing Area though? Not so much.
Shepparton Golf and Tallygaroopna have contested the last two division one weekend pennant grand finals, and we’re set for a trifecta after the latter progressed through Saturday’s preliminary final over Shepparton Park.
With its old foe in blue and yellow already booked its spot in the decider, pressure was on Tallygaroopna to rival its cross town rival’s effort on Golf’s home greens.
And unfortunately for Park, the loss was a statement one.
The first rink was fairly close in nature as David Daws’ four overcame Paul Nichols and co by four shots, though Raymond Hill skipped Park to a 22-16 triumph in the second set of ends.
But that was as good as it got for the side in maroon and gold.
Mitchell Sidebottom and company slammed their foots to the floor in the third rink, putting Shane Walsh’s quartet to the sword by order of a 32-13 smashing.
To cap things off, Mark Ryan brought the Redlegs home with a wet sail by steering his rink to a 14-shot advantage, seeing Tallygaroopna prevail 16-97 to 2-66.
It’ll now see the Redlegs take on the Golfers this Saturday at Euroa Bowls Club, with a start time of 1pm slated for the big dance.
In other grades, Shepparton Park will have a presence in the division two, three and four grand finals, taking on Seymour, Euroa and Dookie respectively, while the division five decider will see Colbinabbin meet Murchison and Avenel take on Mooroopna Golf in division six.
