“International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the strength, leadership and contribution of women across our community,” council acting director healthy communities and liveability Karen Liversidge said.
“Through our Community Grants Program, council is proud to support local organisations that create inclusive spaces for connection, cultural celebration and shared learning.”
The main council event held, in partnership with Shepparton Culture Kitchen and council’s Activities in the Park program, will be held at the McIntosh Centre from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, March 8.
The event will feature free workshops on flower arrangement and multicultural cooking.
Goulburn Valley Afghan Women’s Association will hold an Iftar dinner celebration at the Sir Ian McLennan Centre in Mooroopna on Wednesday, March 4 from 7pm to 9pm.
The community members will break their fast together while celebrating the three-year anniversary of the association and enjoying a meet and greet, cultural performances and guest speakers.
Soroptimist International of Shepparton will hold a breakfast at Quality Inn Parklake from 7am to 9am on Friday, March 6.
The event will feature guest speakers, raffles, a trading table, lucky door prizes and the announcement of the winner of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Annual Women’s Award.
Tatura Community House will host a breakfast at the Hilltop Golf and Country Club from 9.30am to 11.30am on Friday, March 6.
Lawyer and advocate Jenny Hardy and Smiling Hearts Uganda founder Loretta Lilford will be attending as guest speakers.
