The visit was a great opportunity for students to learn more about rugby league and the many ways young people can become involved in the sport.
Tara McGrath-West from the Brisbane Broncos and NRL development officer Emma James delivered an engaging and informative presentation giving students an insight into the game of rugby league, pathways into the sport, and the importance of dedication and teamwork.
Students also learned about the importance of hydration, regular physical activity and quality sleep, and how these habits contribute to overall wellbeing.
Tara’s team, the Brisbane Broncos, were the 2025 NRLW Premiers with both women answering a range of questions from the students.
The visit was part of the Small Schools Blitz with the NRL Development Team travelling to a number of regional schools to promote healthy lifestyles.
Following the presentation held in the classroom, students and staff moved outside to take part in a series of NRL skill based activities.
The children had a lot of fun and were able to put their new rugby league skills to the test.

Community members are invited to join Jamie Haynes and the STAND initiative for a run, jog, walk, shuffle or a mix of them all.
People of all ages and genders are encouraged to take part in this free community club. Starting on Saturday, March 14, the group will meet at the Big Fish on the Tocumwal Foreshore at 7am.
A course will be available, however the main aim is to provide a regular meeting point and an opportunity for people to move, socialise and start the weekend on a positive note.
After the session, participants can continue with their weekend or enjoy a coffee at The Fifth Daughter Cafe.
There are no finish line medals and no recorded times, just a welcoming environment for a great cause.
The STAND initiative stands for Strength Through Action Not Discussion and aims to provide men with a space where strength is built through action, not just words.
Their mission is to create a community where men support each other, engage in real world activities and offer a path forward that doesn’t rely on forced conversations.
