Hosted by the Goulburn Valley Writers’ Group, the event offers a space for poetry lovers to gather, indulge and perhaps even recite a verse or two.
GV Writers’ Group president Suellen Drysdale said creating poetry was “primarily a private pursuit”; however, the open mic component flipped that notion on its head.
“Often, our poems lay dormant until we’re ready to share them in a book or read them to others,” she said.
“Our open mic will give aspiring poets a chance to share those carefully crafted words with a like-minded audience.”
From budding bards finding their voice to seasoned wordsmiths polishing well-loved verses, every poet is welcome to share their original pieces in a supportive environment.
Those not quite ready to take the microphone can simply settle in and soak up the inspiration.
Poets can register on the day or indicate their interest when booking, with time limits applying.
Places are limited, and early bookings are encouraged.
