After transferring from Sydney Olympic to fellow NSW National Premier League juggernaut Marconi Stallions over the off-season, the Shepparton product summoned the holy trinity on debut against APIA Leicchardt.
Wonder goal.
Win.
And a spot in the team of the week.
First impressions don’t come much better than that, so Kuol was understandably rapt when speaking with media in the wake of Saturday’s round one victory.
“I’m feeling really good,” he said.
“We prepared really well as a team, we just had that wining feeling. (It was) very good to get a goal and a good debut.
“We’ve got a good blend of experienced players, a lot of younger players and everything has come across really well.”
Stepping out in sky blue on debut at Marconi Stadium - dubbed ‘The Palace’ - it was only fitting Kuol put in a kingly performance against the reigning champion.
Stationed at centre back, Kuol opened proceedings in the 27th minute with a goal straight out of the top draw.
He picked up the ball some 35 yards from goal, took one touch out of his feet and launched a heat seeking missile that skidded off the turf and into the net.
Marconi took a 1-0 lead into the half, and shortly after the restart, Kuol was back at it.
A swirling corner was padded out by the APIA keeper, triggering a goal mouth scramble that was first nodded down by Marconi’s Anton Mlinaric before the ball was bundled home, Kuol credited with the final touch.
The Goulburn Valley Suns graduate was subbed off in the 60th minute, and though the visitors pegged one back in injury time, it proved no more than a consolation as the Stallions started their campaign in style thanks to Kuol.
Meanwhile, younger brother Garang has been stacking up steady minutes in the Czech First League.
The 21-year-old played 69 minutes in Sparta Prague’s 3-0 win over Dukla on Monday, with Kuol’s side sitting second on the ladder and trailing Slavia Prague by five points.
