The driver in a single vehicle accident near Mulwala this morning has died.
At about 7.50 this morning, emergency services responded to reports that a car had crashed into a tree and caught fire along Spring Drive, near Kyffins Reserve.
The driver was the sole occupant and died before emergency services arrived.
Crews from the Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire and officers from Murray River Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
The identify of the driver is unknown at this stage.
Spring Road is currently closed and is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
