And that could spell trouble for top-seeded two-time Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka on Tuesday.
Having grown up while routinely cleaning up the biggest junior tournaments in tennis, the world No.1 holds no fears for Jovic.
"I'm in the quarters, which is amazing for me, so you know you're going to play one of the best players at this stage of the tournament. That's what you want," said the American who only turned 18 last month.
"I'm just trusting the level that I have been able to put out and hopefully that will be enough."
The 29th seed's confidence is well earned.
Born in California to Serbian parents, Jovic and her family met up with Novak Djokovic at Melbourne Park this week, when the 10-time men's Open king declared the teenage prodigy had "all the tools to be a future champion, a future No.1".
As a former winner of the prestigious Orange Bowl junior tournament, as well as girls' doubles titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, Jovic has been on the path to the top for years.
Little wonder she's not overly surprised by her run in Melbourne, which has secured a place in the world top 20 next week regardless of her result against Sabalenka.
"Honestly, I don't really feel like there is a lot of house money or underdog mentality that I'm feeling, because I don't feel like I have been playing anything outside of my comfort zone or outside of my normal level," Jovic said after taking out former Wimbledon and French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini en route to the last eight.
"I have come from two other tournaments where I was playing every day and winning a lot of matches as well.
"So this week and the level that I'm showing right now doesn't really feel much different than that.
"It's just another week that I'm winning more matches, which is nice to see.
"So hopefully I can keep the winning going."
If she does, Jovic will play either fellow American and third seed Coco Gauff or Ukrainian world No.12 Elina Svitolina in Thursday's semi-finals.
If not, Sabalenka will be within one more win of a fourth consecutive Open final appearance.
