For many years, the volunteer-driven festival has represented more than a music event, but a community and economic revitaliser of the twin towns.
Usually held on the last weekend of July ― once the quietest trading period of the year ― the festival has transformed the region’s winter landscape, drawing over 15,000 visitors annually.
The council said more than $17 million in direct and indirect spending flowed through town during the festival period, which incorporates multiple venues.
Local and emerging artists are also supported by the festival, as is cross-border collaboration, helping to strengthen Echuca-Moama’s shared identity.
The council said its passionate volunteers ensured visitors left with a memorable experience while fostering local pride among community members.
“The festival’s lasting contribution has helped position Echuca-Moama as a thriving arts destination, proving that live music has the power to energise and unite a community,” it said.
“Congratulations to everyone involved in the Winter Blues Festival on this well-deserved honour.”
