Liz and Troy Dunn had their name plucked for the $5000 prize during Friday night’s Edward River Christmas Party & Carols event in the Waring Gardens.
Their winning ticket came from Dahlsens Mitre 10, a store they frequent.
“We’re renovating a house at the moment, so we have been buying a lot from Mitre 10,” Liz said.
The Dunns, who own Dunn’s Bobcats & Mini Earthworks, know the importance of shopping local.
“We always try to shop local when we can,” said Liz.
“We’ll put the winnings toward something fun in the new year.”
The Think B4 U Click campaign is intended to encourage people to shop locally, and Pastoral Times general manager Nigel Lutton said it’s had great support in 2025.
“This year has been a really successful promotion with around 70,000 tickets in circulation,” he said.
“That equates to about $1.4 million dollars that has been spent locally and stayed within our community, supporting local participating businesses.”
“It is all made possible by some great platinum sponsors - Deniliquin Business Chamber, Deni RSL Club, Dahlsens Mitre10, Edward River Council, Murray Irrigation, and of course your very own Deni Pastoral Times.
“This is in addition to all the wonderful participating businesses, and of course you guys that have spent your money locally and kept it in our community.”
The total prize pool this year was $6000, with each winner receiving their prize as half cash and half Deni Business Chamber Why Leave Town gift cards.
The two $500 minor prize draws were won by Karla Jarrett and Amy Clark.
