And the rift between the top and bottom half of the ladder has widened substantially.
Shepparton Golf crossed the 100-shot mark for the second time this season during round nine’s Allan Matheson Shield action, rocketing into the holidays on a three-game winning streak.
Hosting East Shepparton at Golf HQ, the Brad Orr and Kris Ferguson-skipped rinks did the damage with wins of 34-15 and 31-9 wins respectively before John Gribble’s four secured further rink points in the 17-101 to 1-56 triumph.
East Shepparton didn’t walk away empty-handed, however, with Kevin Cox’s rink tying Peter Le Sueur 17 apiece to notch a single point.
Victory means the Golfers will resume the season on January 17 in second place, but still two games shy of the Matheson Shield ladder leader Tallygaroopna.
The Redlegs are setting a hot pace, successfully navigating the first half of their campaign without a loss after adding Tatura-Hill Top to its list of conquered rivals.
The Bulldogs didn’t go down without a fight in the 16-90 to 2-78 defeat, clinching points via Josh Warren’s third rink, 24-15.
However, the Redlegs had the upper hand in the other three hard-fought stanzas.
Geoff Franze (22-20), Mark Ryan (25-17), and Guy Madigan (28-17) ensured the Redlegs stayed spotless, strolling to an impeccable 9-0 record in their mission to go one better this season.
Elsewhere, fourth-placed Euroa opened up a three-game buffer with a mammoth 18-108 to 0-50 win over Seymour VRI, while Shepparton Park notched a seven-shot win against Mooroopna to consolidate third spot.
