Having recently gained her ‘lead teacher’ certification through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, Georgia has joined an elite group of teachers nationwide.
Only six years into her teaching career, Georgia embarked on a rigorous, yearlong accreditation process designed to assess the highest levels of professional practice.
The first stage required her to compile extensive evidence addressing all 37 Australian Professional Teaching Standards.
The second stage brought external assessors into St Anne’s College, where they interviewed referees and observed Georgia’s teaching.
AITSL describes nationally certified highly accomplished and lead teachers as expert practitioners who create engaging and effective learning environments while continually refining their own practice.
Beyond their own classrooms, they also play a vital role in guiding colleagues, strengthening teaching quality, and contributing to improved learning outcomes across entire school communities.
For Georgia, the process was both challenging and deeply rewarding.
“It has been a great opportunity to push myself to learn more, be better and reassure myself of my ability as well as more confidence both in front of the classroom and in my leadership role,” she said.
“I feel lucky and grateful that St Anne's and Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools have supported me to chase this professional dream.”
Principal Anthony Butts said the entire St Anne’s community was proud of Georgia’s accomplishment.
“The benefits of national teacher certification are far-reaching and include positively influencing teachers, parents, school leaders and, most importantly, students,” he said.
