Their Tatura-based NDIS support service is inviting the Greater Shepparton community to help make the festive season brighter for those who need it most.
Empowered Voices helps people be seen, supported and valued, and their team works closely with participants to build independence, confidence and meaningful connections.
And for many, community involvement is more than an activity, it is a lifeline.
With that said, this year’s Christmas drive was born from a simple idea about giving participants the chance to give back.
Empowered Voices operations and compliance manager Melyssa Trazzera said the participants had helped plan, organise, sort and promote the drive.
“Every step has strengthened their confidence, deepened their sense of belonging and shown the value they bring to the community,” Mrs Trazzera said.
“Donations will go directly to local people struggling this Christmas, including families, individuals and older residents.
“Any remaining items will be shared with other organisations running Christmas appeals, such as Junction Support Services and the Salvos Christmas Appeal.”
The drive is collecting gifts for all ages, from babies and teens to adults and elderly community members.
New toys, books, clothing, self-care items, gift sets, gift cards, puzzles, treats and non-perishable food are welcome.
Donations can be dropped off at Empowered Voices, 32 Casey St, Tatura, or Tatura Promo and Logos, 108 Hogan St, Tatura.
Collection is available for those unable to deliver items. Donations are needed before December 19 to allow time for sorting and delivery.
“Every act of kindness matters and can make a real difference,” Mrs Trazzera said.
“This drive reminds people they are not alone, that their community cares and that kindness exists.
“For participants, being part of this kindness has been life-changing.
“They are not just receiving support, they are giving it.”
