Saturday saw the Orangemen lace up for their second pre-season match, and though the opposition’s difficulty scaled up significantly from their last clash, the result was the same.
After downing Pre Season Soccer Academy a fortnight earlier, the Suns sent National Premier League club Hume City packing following an impressive 2-1 victory at McEwen Reserve.
Sean Grant put the Suns a goal to the good in the first half, finishing off a cutback, though Hume replied after the break in a similar manner.
But the game was ultimately decided by some Kiwi flavour.
New Zealand import striker Curtis Hughes marked his first appearance in orange with a goal, capitalising on a squeezing press and sliding it past City’s keeper.
The Suns’ next assignment looms this Saturday, welcoming Bendigo City to town.
News photographer Megan Fisher was behind the lens for the Suns’ under-23s match against Hume City, which finished 4-0 in the latter’s favour.
