The 2025 event was held at the Benalla Seniors and Community Centre on November 19.
The morning commenced with U3A’s Recorder Group of seven, led by Janet Douglas, playing a medley of tunes, including classics going back 100 years.
The audience, numbering over 40, were then presented with the colourfully clad shirts of U3A’s 15 Ukulele Group players, known as the Ukes, led by Heather Wallace.
Not only were the tunes catchy, the Ukes sang along to each one.
The audience couldn’t help but join in during their rendition of Beatles classic Yellow Submarine.
Not to be outdone, the Singing for Fun Group, numbering 20, enthralled attendees with renditions of familiar and popular songs of the past.
Each of the three segments, conducted by Carmyl Winkler, Ross Bootes and Kieran Smith, hyped up those present with energy, patriotism and nostalgia.
This was clearly evident when the song We Are Australian was sung by all in the room, with great gusto.
Quietly in the background were members of the Patchwork and Craft Group displaying their carefully crafted “labours of love” patchwork quilts.
The Taste of Art group displayed a variety of creative work, including excellent landscape paintings.
One member, Rae Jeffers, showed outstanding talent, performing in the Recorders, Singing for Fun and Ukes groups.
President Margaret Jenkins congratulated and thanked the presenting groups and their members for showcasing their talents and promoting the image of U3A Benalla.
