Goulburn Valley Playing Area’s division one midweek season is bustling along, and the Golfers are wasting no time showing the competition who’s boss heading towards the halfway mark.
Tuesday had Golf host Seymour VRI in warm conditions, with the blue and yellow brigade showing cool heads on calm shoulders to pull off a 16-78 to 0-42 victory.
All three rinks went the way of the hosts, as Kris Wright started the party by skipping the Golfers to a 29-13 triumph over Moreno Puppa’s four before Peter Leseuer followed through with a whopping 18-shot win in the second set of ends.
Kris Ferguson wrapped the result in a neat bow, this time by just two shots, with VRI’s third rink showing more pluck.
But Golf’s sixth straight victory now places it 12 points ahead of Shepparton Park, which also reigned supreme on the greens.
Park put a stop to Euroa’s phenomenal four-game winning streak, comprehensively beating the hosts 14-61 to 2-45 and consolidating second place in the process.
Euroa’s Tony Kingma saluted 17-13 in the first rink, but Park - via Kate Bush and Noel Halden - dragged back 20 shots in the ensuing action.
It now leaves a 15-point divide between the two teams.
Around the greens, Tallygaroopna raced to its first victory in a month, proving a class above East Shepparton in the 15-81 to 1-47 throttling.
The Redlegs have crept closer to breaching the finals bracket, though Seymour currently occupies fourth after dealing with the challenge of Tatura-Hill Top.
Seymour was a slick operator on the road, returning home with a 16-73 to 0-46 win.
