The network includes 20 schools spanning primary, high school and central settings - Balranald CS, Barham HS, Barham PS, Blighty PS, Bunnaloo PS, Clare PS, Conargo PS, Deniliquin HS, Deniliquin North PS, Deniliquin South PS, Edward PS, Finley HS, Finley PS, Jerilderie PS, Mathoura PS, Mayrung PS, Moama PS, Moulamein PS, Tooleybuc PS and Wakool Burraboi PS.
Jerilderie PS teaching principal Laura Keech said hosting the network was “an honour and a privilege for our small but mighty school”.
She said it highlighted the significance of bringing the region’s educational leaders to Jerilderie.
Over two days, delegates were treated to a powerful showcase of student achievement, school culture and community pride.
Jerilderie PS captain Amity (surname not provided due to school policy) opened the meeting with a warm welcome, followed by Sahara and Jett, who delivered a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country.
The K-2 students delighted the audience with a recital of their homework poem, while the whole school brought the house down with a K-6 dance performance travelling through the decades.
They earned a standing ovation from every principal and executive member in attendance.
On Friday, students interviewed the visiting leaders about their own schools and how they connect to Jerilderie PS, a moment described by Mrs Keech as “a genuine highlight that showed just how confident, curious and proud our students are”.
Principals also toured the school, exploring the music room, IT room, library, art room, flexible learning spaces, Aurora room, classrooms, expansive oval, COLA and playground.
“People are often surprised when they see the quality of our facilities and programs,” Mrs Keech said.
“It reinforces that public education, no matter the size or postcode, provides outstanding opportunities for every child.”
The event was further elevated by the exceptional catering provided by the Jerilderie Public School P&C.
Local businesses also benefited from accommodation and meal bookings, providing a welcome economic boost.
“The support I have received in my short time as teaching principal has been beyond incredible,” Mrs Keech said.
“Our students, staff, families and wider Jerilderie community make this school the special place it is.
“Hosting the Deni Network has reaffirmed that we truly have something remarkable here.”
