First cab off the rank is our new pharmacist, Ross Myers. Ross has been in our community for a month and here is a little blurb about him:
‘I grew up in Newcastle and went to University of Sydney 1989-1991.
“Married a girl from Gunnedah and we moved to the northwest of NSW, and bought the pharmacy in a small town, Baradine.
“Similar size to Coleambally population wise. Sold that in 2002, and opened a pharmacy in Boggabri in 2006. Ran that for 5 years, and sold in 2011.
“I went back to Baradine as an employee a few months before Covid hit.
“As a vaccinator, I did over 2500 covid shots, with people from Coonabarabran and Coonamble travelling for shots, as we were the only pharmacy in the district doing them.
“We have 6 kids, ages from 34 down to 16. I tend to get involved with the community when I am in small towns. I have been involved with the RFS, and SES previously, and other community groups.
“There will be a vaccination room installed in Marilyn’s pharmacy in the next few weeks, and that will double as a consultation room when I complete the Graduate certificate in Pharmacist Prescribing, which will accredit me as a pharmacist prescriber for some minor conditions.”
We know the Coleambally community will welcome Ross and his family into the community with open arms.
