The community came together to celebrate the grand reopening of the Mooroopna halls.
The halls of Mooroopna fell silent three years ago, but on Friday, October 17, the music returned.

That night, about 140 community members came together to revel in the grand reopening of the Mooroopna and M.G. O’Brien halls – once devastated by the impact of the October 2022 floods, now restored to their former glory.
“Everybody was delighted with how beautiful the halls had come up,” committee of management treasurer Christine Parnell said.
“Some people had been in the hall years ago and saw how drab it was before and how it’s come to life now.”
The evening unfolded to the beat of bagpipes, played by Jason Blake, followed by vocal performances from Jackie and Jarrod Skurrie and their daughter Stevie Renee.
Guests were treated to a spectacle of community spirit, with demonstrations by the hall’s line dance ladies and participants from the ninja class, alongside speeches from representatives of the GV Orchid Club and the Greater Shepparton Foundation.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali also spoke at the event, joined in attendance by councillors Sam Spinks and Kieron Eddy.
An honours board unveiling capped off the evening, paying tribute to the many individuals who helped bring the halls back to life.
“They are all stars in my opinion,” Ms Parnell said.
