The Kyabram Lions Club generously donated $1,000 to the Kyabram Historical Society last week towards the continued improvements at Hazelman’s Cottage Complex at the Kyabram Fauna Park.
The historical society has been working towards having a new display building erected in the Hazelman’s Cottage Complex as there have been many historical items donated over the past few years.
Secretary Eileen Sullivan said the historical society would like to have a new building erected to display these very interesting items.
She said the members of the historical society are “extremely grateful” for this generous donation of $1,000 towards their building fund.
There have been many improvements made at the Hazelman’s Cottage complex with new pathways and gardens, movement of the farm machinery, the construction of a domed well with a hand-pump, and the Historical Horseworks - a Barrett & Co horse powered machine - a big project for president Clive Toms.
The Kyabram Lions Club was chartered in 1964 and has played an integral part in the Kyabram community for over 60 years and have had a strong connection with the fauna park for years.
An early project of the Lions Club at the Fauna Park was the building of the walk-through aviary and shelters through the park.
Members of the Kyabram Lions Club volunteer at the fauna park on each Thursday, with an average of four members working about two and a half hours each week.
Over the past week, the volunteers were planting trees and shrubs around the education centre and between the lake and the education centre.
They plan on doing some fencing around the Hazelman’s Cottage Complex under the guidance of Clive Toms.
