Kyabram, judged Victoria’s best large centre in 2024, took on a record number of registered participants last year, and now its investment in the future of its talented young group has continued.
The Little Athletics centre has secured a $4,000 boost from Coles to upgrade its sporting facilities, supporting young athletes in the region.
The centre, which has around 140 young athletes, is among 72 grassroots Little Athletics organisations across Australia sharing in $250,000 from the 2025 Coles Little Athletics Community Fund for essential equipment upgrades.
Centre president Claudia Moore said the funding would help purchase vital equipment including a portable discus cage, line marking paint, relay batons, measuring tapes, high jump stands and starting blocks.
“Kyabram Little Aths operates primarily on sponsorship and frequently faces financial challenges,” Moore said.
“That's why grants like this are so important to not only sustain our program but provide new opportunities.
“The new portable discus cage will provide more focused and frequent training sessions in this popular event.
“It will help promote much needed safety and teach athletes the correct technique and methods to enter, exit and throw the discus.”
The equipment upgrades will improve safety standards, event accuracy and skill development opportunities for athletes while creating a better environment for volunteers.
