Benalla Rotary’s heartfelt donation to cancer charity

The Rotary Club of Benalla has made a touching donation to a north-east cancer charity.

The club recently presented a TV to the Hilltop Albury/Wodonga Patient and Carer Accommodation Centre, part of the Fight Cancer Foundation.

A Rotary spokesperson said the facility provided comfortable and affordable accommodation close to the Albury Base Hospital, Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre and other local treatment centres.

“It provides a home away from home during difficult times,” the spokesperson said.

The Rotary Club of Benalla had previously forged an association with the Fight Cancer Foundation, and several years ago donated $30,000 towards the costs of construction of the Hilltop Albury/Wodonga Patient and Carer Accommodation.

In recognition of the Rotary Club of Benalla’s support, a room was named in the club’s honour.

The donated TV will be placed in the ‘Rotary’ Suite 3.

Hilltop manager Mercia Conroy-Sewell was on hand to accept the donation of the 43-inch smart TV presented by club president Diane Murphy and Rotarian Denise Durance.
