Olivia Foord and Nick Hay announcing their engagement at the Deni Races.
Saturday’s races were made just a little more special, when at the beckoning of Fashions on the Field MC Sam Hall, Nick Hay made it public that he and partner Olivia Foord became engaged the night before.

Nick, who was an entrant in Fashions on the Field for Gentleman of the Day, then called his fiancée to the stage.
Earlier in the event, Mr Hall had called for a couple in the crowd for a live proposal.
While it wasn’t quite an on-the-spot proposal, it still drew applause and laughter from the crowd.
The happy news didn’t sway things for Nick with the judges, though.
He may not have won Gentlemen of the Day, but he’s won himself a future bride, and he definitely had the crowd vote.
Jelena a hit
Well, Jelena Dokic made an impression on Deni, and in turn Deni made an impression on the tennis star turned TV personality.
Dokic was in Deniliquin on Friday and Saturday as a guest of the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group, for two special events.
Jelena’s courage, honesty and warmth inspired more than 500 people across both events.
“Her message - that healing is possible and that speaking up can change your life - resonated deeply with everyone in the room,” Deni MHAG said.
“We’re so proud of our community for showing up, listening, and reminding each other that what makes us strong isn’t pretending everything’s fine - it’s being there for each other when it’s not.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us, our volunteers, our sponsors and our partners who helped make this weekend possible.”
More photos and a full wrap of the events will be included in Friday’s edition.
TRUCKtalk out now
Everything you need to know about this weekend’s Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo has been collated into one handy magazine.
The Pastoral Times’ annual TRUCKtalk magazine is the official program for the event.
It has been released online today, and a print version will be inserted in Friday’s edition so you can carry it with you this weekend.
The magazine features information about each of the weekend’s event - the Friday Wall of Fame dinner, Saturday’s Truck Show and Modified Tractor Pull, and the memorial service on Sunday - as well as the weekend’s special guests from Outback Truckers, a program of events and a site map.
The magazine also includes some of the latest industry news, and we have a feature spread of the Golden Fleece Fargo truck.
If you can’t wait until Friday, you can read the magazine at www.denipt.com.au/news/trucktalk-southern-riverina-magazine-2025/.
Snake sightings increase
An increased number of posts about snake sightings have been published to social media lately, with sightings fairly widespread across Deniliquin and the surrounding area.
One reader called us at the PT to specifically warn people of a sighting at the Deniliquin Cemetery.
Dale Rose estimates the brown snake was between five and six feet long, and said it hid itself from view in a small hole beside a grave.
So when you’re out and about, please take extra caution. In an emergency, please call 000.
