Tuesday kicked off the Goulburn Valley Playing Area season with midweek action returning, seeing some riveting results play out in the Edna Harling Shield.
Shepparton Golf and Euroa were locked in a close affair, though it was the Golfers to hold firm on home greens 14-58 to 2-54.
Anthony Kingma and co reaped a seven shot first rink triumph, but Golf was able to make up ground in the other sets of ends to hit the ground running.
Last season’s premier Tallygaroopna was given a shock by Seymour, dropping its first game 15-61 to 1-41.
Alison Hall’s quartet clinched a 20-9 victory over Joey Lia’s four in the second rink, opening the door for Seymour to walk through and claim maximum points.
Elsewhere, Shepparton Park gave the new kid on the block, Seymour VRI, a not-so-warm welcome as it prevailed 14-57 to 2-48, while East Shepparton caused a major upset by trumping Tatura Hill-Top 12-57 to 4-51.
News photographer Rechelle Zammit swung by the greens to see Shepparton Golf defeat Euroa in round one.
