Formerly known as Tat200, the annual run, ride and walk has become a symbol of unity, generosity and community pride.
Founded in 2008 by Bega Group, the event was created to bring people together supporting local causes — and 17 years later, it continues to do exactly that.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 18, kicking off at 7am at Mactier Gardens, Tatura.
“Thanks to the incredible support from our sponsors and generous donors, we’ve raised $90,000 this year, helping us surpass a major milestone of over $1.25 million raised since the event began,” Bega Group executive general manager — bulk nutritionals and ingredients Hamish Reid said.
“Every dollar raised goes directly back into the Goulburn Valley community, supporting essential services such as VincentCare Marian Community, Rotary, Lions, CFA, Kiwanis and GV Social Riders.”
With around 300 registered participants and more leading up to the day, the event offers challenges for all ages and fitness levels — from the 5km Zooper Dooper Chill & Walk and 10km Dare Charged Run, to the 22.5km Dairy Farmers Protein Smoothie Ride and the endurance-testing 120km Tatura Classic Ride — Powered by Vegemite.
“It’s a fantastic event,” event manager Lily Botterill said.
“We’ve been running for so many years and have given back over a million dollars to the community. We just love doing it every year — it’s wonderful to give back.”
The event’s family-friendly atmosphere will be enhanced this year with live music from Ryan (The Wildlings) and Stevie Renee, along with face painting, glitter tattoos, lawn games and a kids’ fun run complete with Vegemite goodies.
A Shepp Brewery pop-up and free barbecue for participants will add to the day’s festivities.
“The Tatura Pedals & Steps event is one of our favourite moments on the calendar,” Mr Reid said.
“It reflects our deep connection with the Tatura community and our ongoing commitment to giving back.
“Over the next 15 years, we hope to keep growing participation and strengthening partnerships — all while staying true to the event’s mission of bringing people together to move with purpose and make a difference.”
Andrea Tolley and Lily Botterill will be among the 50 volunteers on the day.
