However, Rochester still finds itself in the top half on the ladder despite a 2-55 to 14-63 round two defeat at the hands of Deniliquin.
While Rochester skip Richard Feuk suffered a heavy defeat against Deni’s Conway Bovell 12-26, Rochester’s other skips Tim Quinlan and Leslie Walles tasted success.
In fact, Quinlan got a strong win over Deni’s Robert Morris 20-12, while Walles was narrowly bested by Deni’s Jamie Shields 23-25.
Lower grades
It was a busy Saturday on the green in division three as Lockington, Elmore and Rochester were all in action across the region.
At Lockington Bowls Club, the host snagged a victory over Rich River 14-63 to 2-54.
While Rich River’s Peter Nesbitt got hold of Lockington’s Lloyd Bucchanan 24-16 in rink one, Steve Pavone and John Fisher got the job done for the host over Barry Cox and Ron Bentley.
Elmore drew with Stanhope at Stanhope Bowls Club 9-55 to 7-55.
Stanhope’s Barry Williams got the drop on Kenneth Wills 20-16 before Raymond Williams and Gary Williams righted the ship for Elmore, taking down Peter Harris and Kenneth Hoppner 19-16 and 20-19, respectively.
Travelling to Deniliquin Bowling Club, Rochester got a win over the host in straight sets, 16-69 to 0-37.
Rochester’s Kevin Hall dealt with Deni’s Ken Slater 24-12 before John Weeks and Graeme Chambers finished off Mark Law and Scott Vesty 21-15 and 24-10, respectively.
In division four, Rich River defeated Lockington 14-60 to 2-52, while Rochester got a big win over Kyvalley View 16-85 to 0-27.
Rich River won two out of three rinks against Lockington, as George Clarence and Frank Ross picked up wins over Kalvan Stout and Shane Felmingham, respectively.
Meanwhile, Lockington’s Cindy Felmingham defeated Rich River’s Leon Sharp in rink one, 22-19.
It was a straight sets victory for Rochester over Kyvalley View at home as skips Don Gilles, Wesley Bertuch and Norm Christie ran rampant across all three rinks.
In division five, Kyabram got the job done in timely fashion against Lockington 14-51 to 0-28.
Kyabram skip Jill Barrett made light work of Lockington’s Denise Gilmore 30-12 and Kyabram’s Murray Tenace got the job done against Rodney Fiedler 21-16.
Rochester also suffered a defeat against Deniliquin White, 0-30 to 14-53.
It was tidy work for Deni as skips Tony Danckert and Lee Pattinson emerged victorious over Joan Limbrick and Heather Wilson 29-11 and 24-19, respectively.
